Luca Leandri One-Man Show18 March - 18 April, 2006: One-Man Show Featuring the Raku Ceramics of Luca LeandriThis display from the Galleria Yvette Tucci in Marsciano was a one-man show by Luca Leandri, an Umbrian sculptor specialising in Raku ceramics. The Raku technology is a 500-year-old Japanese technique for high temperature firing of the ceramics and a special quench technology. Mr. Leandri's style is a reflection of his Umbrian roots, but also features the use of precious metals in his works. Much of his work is based on Zen philosophy, Italian history, and his favorite literature. The result is a combination of calming shapes and movement in the sculptures, accentuated by the excitement generated by the metallic glazes.
